Team spirit runs high at Sydney Colour Run

More than 30 early childhood teachers, educators, staff, friends and families from Little Gems Early Learning Centre, Milestones Kellyville Rydge and Pitt Town Preschool were joined by Affinity CEO, Tim Hickey and other members of the Affinity family to take part in Sydney’s Colour Run on Sunday the 20th August.

In a strong display of the team spirit that is prevalent throughout the Affinity culture, ‘Team Affinity’ were running to show their love and support for a cause very close to home. Former Centre Manager of Milestones Kellyville Ridge, Rebecca Tooney-Parish, recently received news that her little girl Indi has been diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer at just 12 months old. Indi is now receiving chemotherapy and lifesaving treatment from Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The news was felt across all our centres, and immediately those closest to Rebecca and Indi united to show their love and support. With a fundraising target of $2,000, they chose to run for the Starlight Foundation to help them on their mission to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and families.

Julie Brown, Centre Manager at Little Gems Early Learning Centre said, “Yesterday was a brilliant display of team spirit! I was personally blown away with how many people joined and supported team Indi. I know Miss Bec was so thankful for all of our efforts and is sure feeling the love from her Affinity family during this tough time.”

While the photos certainly show a lot of ‘Serious Fun’ was had by all - another of Affinity’s core values that lays at the heart of everything we do. CEO Tim Hickey reflected on the day; “It was a fabulous show of support and although the fun was real so is our concern for Rebecca Tooney-Parrish and her family as they continue the battle for Indi to regain health. The day was dedicated to them.”
