Support in the wake of Australia's bushfires

Nationally, Affinity Education Group is in the process of finalising donations to Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales Fire Authorities directly thanking them for the work they have done in protecting our centres, educators and families.

Individually,  our childcare centre network are bringing our ‘Being Completely Connected’ and ‘Going Above and Beyond’ values to life through their efforts to support the communities and causes closest to their hearts.

In addition they organised an art gallery fundraiser which will be on display from the 3 February where families will be invited to purchase their child’s artwork for a gold coin donation.

Assistant Centre Manager Ella Dawney said the centre raised $600 by selling chocolates and they’ve raised five cars full of donations so far from very generous families over two months with donations going to Australian Red Cross.

Centre Manager Rebecca Rokov said the first fundraising event was a Superhero Disco - ‘because our children confirmed they perceive firefighters as superheroes’.

More than $100 was raised and donated to the Rural Fire Squadron, so we were thrilled,” said Rebecca.

"A sewing workshop has also been planned to sew little pouches for animals who have been tragically burned,” she explained.

"Money raised from the workshop will be donated and we of course will have a box full of pouches to send off to help our poor animals affected by the fires. I am reaching out and inviting our local schools and wider community to join us in our sewing workshop and fundraiser.”

Milestones Early Learning Lakes Entrance

Directly affected by the bushfires with a week-long closure, Centre Manager Sarah Kleehammer rallied her team and community in Lakes Entrance Victoria to donate to the local fire brigade. “They are a volunteer only based unit in our small country town and are in desperate need of a new fire truck,” explained Sarah.

Milestones Early Learning Keperra

Centre Manager Tina Albert has held a number of fundraising events including a dress up week and barbecue, and shared that her team will be raising funds continuously over the weeks ahead.

Tadpoles Early Learning Brisbane Airport

An Aussie Barbecue day is being planned to raise gold coin donations which we will send to Australian Red Cross, and Centre Manager Katherine Wilson is also starting a collection box for supplies.

Centre Manager Tina Barbour and her team are using a raffle and sausage sizzle at their upcoming Family Fun Fair to raise money to donate to WWFs Wildlife Fund.

Many centres have raised money for Australian Red Cross, and they will continue to do so.

Thank you to all families, children, educators and centre teams who have continued to show their community spirit during a time of significant need.
