Papilio Early Learning Schofields Welcome’s Sylvania Hua As Centre Manager

As we excitedly await the opening date of Papilio Early Learning Schofields in Sydney’s western suburbs, we are proud to announce that long-term Affinity Education Group employee Sylvania Hua will be joining the centre community as Centre Manager.  

Sylvania began her career with Affinity Education Group in 2014 at Papilio Early Learning North Strathfield (Orange Campus). After seven years at North Strathfield and extensive experience as Assistant Centre Manager and Educational Leader, Sylvania is well-prepared for her new role. 

We spoke with Sylvania to learn more about her career, her approach to early learning, her plans for Papilio Early Learning Schofields, and more.

Sylvania, tell us a bit about your career in early childhood education and care sector and how you came to become the Centre Manager at Papilio Early Learning Schofields. 
I have completed a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood 0-5 years) and have utilised this knowledge during my time as Educational Leader and Assistant Centre Manager at our sister-centre, Papilio Early Learning North Strathfield (Orange Campus). After 7 years at this centre, when the opportunity arose to apply for this role at a brand-new centre in Schofields, I felt confident that I was ready for the next step in my career.

What do you love most about being an educator in the early childhood education and care sector? 
It sparks joy to witness the enriching and stimulating programs my team develops to help children grow through their developmental stages. Educators face new challenging moments every day, but overcoming these barriers creates a stepping stone for us to learn how to resolve and explore new strategies and techniques when working with young children. 

Why are you glad to be part of the Affinity Education Group community? How have systems and training supported you? 
Affinity Education has offered multiple learning opportunities for me. They are invested in growing their people - some opportunities include being part of the acquisition team, creating marketing champions, and advocating staff’s interest in the company. 

The systems and training are always accessible, which has helped develop a strong foundation for me to grow in a management role. The company strives to develop and flourish their staff by providing endless opportunities and support throughout their journey through inspiring and positive strategies.

What do you hope to achieve in your new role at Papilio Early Learning Schofields?  
I hope to further develop my interpersonal skills and polish my leadership skills. I also look forward to giving back to the Schofields community and providing growth and development opportunities for my team. I’m excited to bring high-quality care and education to the community by providing the Papilio spirit of learning. 

What impact do you hope Papilio Early Learning Schofield has in the local community? 
Community engagement is important to me and the Papilio Difference. My vision is that Papilio Early Learning Schofield will build and create a strong rapport with its community, families and local businesses. I hope that families in the community will be able to think of Papilio Schofield as the best early childhood service and that the children who attend this service will become confident and independent individuals who are prepared for lifelong learning.
