Affinity celebrates from East Coast to West Coast

Affinity Education is delighted to announce two of its Educators have been awarded State Winners in the 2018 Australian Early Education and Care Awards.

Leonie MacCartie, Educator at Tadpoles Early Learning Centre, Cooroy in Queensland, won 'Educator of the Year, Queensland', while on Australia's West Coast, Yolandi Chandler, an Early Childhood Teacher at Kids Care Mindarie, was honored with 'Educator of the Year, Western Australia.'

As part of the award process, both educators will also attend a three-day professional development program in Sydney before completing a final submission as they vy for the honor of 'Australian Educator of the Year' at an Awards Ceremony to be held in Sydney on June 15, 2018.

"I genuinely love what I do, and that shines through," Ms MacCartie said, after learning of her State Winner status.

The Lifelong Learning School Readiness programs offered in both educators class rooms provide vital social, emotional, academic and physical preparation for children before they start school.

Ms MacCartie's extensions of the program include 'Bush Kindy', making the most of Cooroy's unique local natural environment.

Ms Chandler's programs focus on the unique interests of each child, ensuring they develop confidence in their own abilities.

Affinity Education Group's CEO Tim Hickey said both educators deserved recognition and reward for their highly professional approach to delivering early education.

"Both Yolandi and Leonie are well known within Affinity's community of teachers and educators, and we are thrilled to congratulate them on their achievements so far," he said.

"They are outstanding teachers who demonstrate their genuine love and dedication to giving the children in their care the best possible education and start in life," he said.
