Affinity shining star profile: Tracey Hodge

Introducing Tracey Hodge, Centre Manager at Aussie Kindies Early Learning Glen Innes, and one of our latest Shining Stars!

Tracey has been working in early childhood education since 2006 having taken the step into the industry after having her children two years prior. “When I started I set a goal for myself, to make sure all children felt they were special and valued,” she says.

Taking time for herself to develop her skills hasn’t always been easy though. “Studying with my husband working long hours and having very young children (two, three and four years old) was very challenging. My little girl would become upset when I started working and it made me question if I was doing the right thing."

A true inspiration, Tracey worked through this and has said seeing the bright smiles on little faces and encountering new challenges as she stepped up to centre manager has made her glad she kept at it.

Tracey loves teaching the children at her centre all about sustainable practices as part of the Lifelong Learning Centres Healthy World Program and says the gardening activities are some of the children’s favourite on the curriculum.

“Sustainability, growing your own fruit and vegetables and preparing children for ‘big school’ emotionally and socially are the most important current topics in early childhood education,” she says.

Tracey was nominated for her hard work bringing the Lifelong Learning Healthy Children Programs to life in her centre daily.

“We use lifelong learning in our program through the meals that we provide, gardening activities, community involvement and participation. However, I absolutely love the fact the parents get involved as well to truly build a connected community,” she continues.

Thank you Tracey for bringing our Affinity values of ‘Going Above and Beyond’, ‘Delivering Outstanding Professionalism’ and ‘Living the Team Spirit’ to life!
