Affinity Education Group’s first Shining Stars Graduation Ceremony was held in Brisbane on Monday 18 June 2018, attended by 9 outstanding participants and representatives of the program from child care centres around Australia.

Each Affinity participant in the Shining Stars program undertook a 12-month leadership and personal development program which included personal change workshops, one-on-one coaching, team-building and networking opportunities and workplace-based quality improvement projects.

The program culminated with each Shining Star presenting a unique project they had created to benefit themselves, their centre and the larger Affinity community of educators and leaders.

Linda Carroll, Head of People and Culture at Affinity Education Group said the program had allowed participants to realise their full potential through sharing practices, knowledge and their own personal development journey.

“The Shining Star program was created as a way for Affinity to reward and retain early childhood professionals who consistently fulfil our values of ‘Realising your potential’ and ‘Going Above and Beyond’,” Ms Carroll said.

“This group of outstanding educators, early childhood teachers, team leaders and Centre Managers have truly gone ‘above and beyond’ during their Shining Star journey over the past 12-months.

“They have been challenged and pushed out of their comfort zone, but the results have been worthwhile, with 40% of these graduates promoted into leadership roles during their time in the program."

"We’re proud to have them in our centres where families and children can experience their passion and professionalism,” she said.

CEO Tim Hickey said the program enabled Affinity to build a culture of high performing leaders.

“It’s been a fantastic addition to our company culture to follow the journey each of our Shining Stars has taken,” Mr Hickey said.

“Having visited each and every of our centres represented by this group, I know first-hand the impact these outstanding individuals make on the quality of early education and care being delivered to families,” Mr Hickey said.

“I congratulate all participants on their hard work and enthusiasm – Affinity is proud to have you with us.”
