Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for more information about Affinity Education and our childcare centres? Below are some of the most common questions families and educators ask. If you need more help, feel free to contact us.
What is Affinity Education Group
Affinity Education Group is a national provider of early childhood education and childcare in Australia. We operate a national network of centres under trusted brands including Milestones, Papilio, Kids Academy and Aussie Kindies.
What’s the difference between Milestones, Papilio, Kids Academy and Aussie Kindies?
Milestones, Papilio, Kids Academy and Aussie Kindies are our four early learning brands, each shaped by the community it serves. Every centre, regardless of brand, delivers the same Lifelong Learning Curriculum and is held to the same standards of care, safety and quality. Find a centre near you to see which brand is in your area.
What ages do your centres cater for?
Most of our centres welcome children aged six weeks to school age, with dedicated programs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Some centres may offer slightly different age groupings - your local Centre Manager will be happy to confirm what’s available. Find a centre near you.
What is the Lifelong Learning Curriculum?
The Lifelong Learning Curriculum is our exclusive early years program, designed to support children’s development from birth to school age. It includes age-appropriate learning zones, play-based experiences, and a focus on wellbeing, confidence, communication and creativity.
Are meals provided at your centres?
In most of our centres, children enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared onsite each day by a qualified cook. Some centres may require families to pack a lunch box instead - your Centre Manager will let you know what applies at your location.
Do you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
Yes. We take food safety seriously and ensure all dietary needs are managed with care. Centres use Food ID cards and placemats to identify allergies and preferences, and our cooks follow strict protocols to keep every child safe and well-nourished.
What should my child bring on their first day?
Most of our centres provide meals, nappies, hats and shirts, so families don’t need to bring these items. Your Centre Manager will let you know if there’s anything specific to bring for your child’s first day, such as a comforter or a change of clothes.
How do I enrol my child in one of your centres?
The easiest way to enrol is to book a tour at your preferred centre. Our team will walk you through the enrolment process, answer any questions, and help you complete the necessary forms.
Do I need to be on a waitlist, or can I enrol immediately?
Availability depends on your local centre and the age group you’re enrolling into. Some centres have places available now, while others may have a waitlist. The best way to find out is to book a tour or contact your preferred centre directly.
Do you offer flexible or casual care days?
Many of our centres offer flexible enrolment options, including part-time and casual days, depending on availability. Speak with your local Centre Manager about what’s available at your preferred centre.
What holiday or public holiday arrangements do centres have?
Most centres operate year-round, including through school holidays, with closures on public holidays. Your local centre will have specific details on their opening calendar - get in touch or find your centre for exact dates.
Can I claim the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?
Yes. All of our centres are approved for the Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS). We can help you estimate your out-of-pocket costs and guide you through the application. Learn more about CCS here.
How much does child care cost at Affinity Education?
Costs vary by centre, location and the number of days your child attends. Most families are eligible for the Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which reduces out-of-pocket costs based on your circumstances. Learn more about CCS here, or contact your local centre for a tailored cost estimate.
How do you ensure my child’s safety?
Your child’s safety is our highest priority. Every Affinity Education centre follows strict safety protocols, including:
- Secure entry systems
- Monthly safety audits
- Educator-to-child ratios that meet regulations
- Emergency drills and evacuation training
- Safe sleep practices
- Allergy and medical condition management
All educators are trained in child protection and mandatory reporting. If a concern is raised, we act swiftly and follow clear procedures, including escalation to the appropriate authorities. We take every concern seriously and are committed to taking immediate, decisive action, including removing individuals who do not meet our safety expectations. The wellbeing of every child in our care always comes first.
What happens if I have a concern about my child’s care?
We take every concern seriously and act on it promptly. Speak with your Centre Manager in the first instance, or contact us directly. Our approach to raising and resolving concerns is outlined in our Policies & Procedures, and every concern is handled with transparency and care.
How do you support inclusion and diversity?
We are committed to creating inclusive environments where all children feel safe, respected and supported. Our curriculum reflects the diversity of our families and communities, and our educators are trained to support each child’s unique identity and needs. Learn more about inclusion.
Do you have a sustainability program?
Yes. We embed sustainability into our centres through gardening, recycling, nature-based play, and daily eco-friendly habits. Children learn to care for the planet through hands-on experiences and age-appropriate learning. Read about our approach to sustainability.
What qualifications do your educators have?
Our educators hold or are working toward approved early childhood qualifications, including Certificate III, Diploma, or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. Many receive additional training through our Affinity Learning Academy.
