Loved Local Jo Sets New Goals for Milestones Early Learning

Milestones Early Learning Bairnsdale's two campuses have welcomed new Senior Centre Manager Jo-Anne Maguigan, who brings more than 36 years of experience in childcare, training, and management to her new role.

Ask Jo-Anne what inspires her, and her answer is simple: "I have an absolute passion for quality Early Education and keeping children safe and healthy, and my passion has developed into a wonderful lifelong career."

Jo-Anne's career began due to an interest in development and gifted children, which led to a strong interest in brain development and a career that has already spanned more than 36 years in the sector in New Zealand, Victoria, and remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory.

A registered Early Childhood Teacher, she is well-known in the Bairnsdale region, most recently for her teaching role at TAFE Gippsland, where she guided the early careers of locals as they completed Cert III, Diploma and work-based studies.

Now six weeks into her role as Senior Centre Manager at Milestones Early Learning Bairnsdale, Jo-Anne has formed close connections with her team, families and children and is ready to welcome new educators and teachers to the team, which she says will "strive to exceed in 2024 and beyond."

"I believe every child deserves a high-quality early education, and that is why I was so excited to have the opportunity to come to Milestones Early Learning Bairnsdale and support the Dawson Street and Day Street campuses in 2024" Jo-Anne said.

"As part of Affinity Education Group, Milestones Early Learning offers the Lifelong Learning Curriculum programs for children from birth to five years, incorporating funded Kindergarten programs for three- and four-year-old children".

"Having liaised with Affinity Education Group when I was teaching at TAFE, I was already familiar with their focus on quality, compliance, and career opportunities for both new and experienced early childhood teachers and educators".

Jo-Anne's goals for 2024 include some bold steps towards exceeding the National Quality Standards for Early Education and Childcare as set by the Australian Childcare Education and Quality Care Authority (ACECQA).

"Our two Milestones Early Learning Bairnsdale campuses are already Meeting the National Quality Standards, so our goal now will be to work towards exceeding standards, which will take a team effort. Our educators and the children we work for will absolutely make the effort worthwhile".

Milestones Early Learning Bairnsdale invites applications from new educators and Early Childhood Teachers to join the Dawson Street and Day Street teams.
