Our Affinity Learning Academy, which in 2023 is offering fully funded accredited training and supported career development pathways for more than 1000 employees of Affinity Education Group, has been recognised in our finalist status in the 2023 AHRI Awards for the ‘Best Learning and Development Strategy’.
“It’s great to see our sector-leading Learning and Development approach which led to the launch of the Affinity Learning Academy back in 2017, recognised by AHRI,” said Chief Executive Office Tim Hickey.
In an interview with HRM Online celebrating Affinity’s finalist status in the 2023 Awards, Chief People Officer Linda Carroll explained that the company achieved a 50% boost in internal promotions in 2022 by focusing on building a pipeline of capable, driven and purposeful talent.
“We’re lucky in this sector that a lot of people are in it for the right reasons,” says Linda Carroll, Affinity Education Group’s Chief People Officer.
“They’re doing it because they want to have an impact on young children and help to shape that new generation coming through – it’s very rewarding work. And they’re teaching children, so they’re very open to learning.”
Since 2017, the Affinity Learning Academy has offered employees fully-paid and supported accredited training and are assisted in enrolling in traineeships, Certificate III and Diploma qualifications. In 2022, Affinity extended this to include leadership and management qualifications for the centre leaders in our business.
“Affinity’s key value is to realise the potential of everyone. And that’s something we really live and breathe every day. In the candidate-short market we find ourselves in, we have to spend a lot of time, effort and concentration on developing an internal talent pipeline within our organisation,” said Ms Carroll.
Affinity’s commitment to 'lifelong learning’ for our employees showcases the positive impact of investing in the development of the workforce.
