Australian Breastfeeding Week 2024: Returning to work from maternity leave

Support for working mothers to continue breastfeeding is a right, not a privilege, and this year we are thrilled to have maintained national accreditation with the Australian Breastfeeding Association for the third year in a row.

More than 230 Affinity Education Group centres around Australia offer a warm, welcoming and supportive breastfeeding environment and policies for families and employees to allow them to continue their breastfeeding journey.

Lead Educator Briana at Kids Academy Early Learning Warnervale said returning to work with Affinity had made her breastfeeding journey easy.

“It has allowed me to be both a mum and an educator, the team are very supportive giving me updates on how Orlando is going or if he is due for a feed. The team informed me at my interview that it was part of their approach, and this was one of the reasons I decided to join the team!”

For Affinity employee Zoe Aubry, who returned from maternity leave with Affinity Education Group into a promotion opportunity to Centre Manager, the ability to continue breastfeeding her young son, who also started attending the centre, was a relief and positive employee benefit.

“Affinity makes sure breastfeeding mothers have a comfortable place to breastfeed, so I felt really comfortable about returning to work with my son without it affecting our breastfeeding journey,” Zoe explained.
