A day in the life of an Early Childhood Educator
Your day commences well before families enter our centres. First thing in the morning, you’ll ensure you’re organised for breakfast for those early drop-offs. After that, you’ll follow a learning plan that includes teaching children:
- To be responsible for their belongings
- To toilet and how to wash their hands properly
- How to play outside and explore to develop their motor skills
- A love of reading through storytime
- A love of art
- School readiness
Teaching children these essential skills come from a well-planned curriculum. As part of your day as an educator, you’ll have time to:
- Plan an overview of learning experiences aligned to children's interests
- Plan for our STEM program
- Organise events such as incursions / excursions
- Record observations of children’s learning and development
- Organise children’s portfolios of work
- Write transition statements
A day as an early educator is filled with variety, but what makes this profession more than just a job is those fulfilling teaching moments that occur when you’re exploring new experiences with children or perhaps sitting and reading a book and seeing a child discover something new for the first time. Being an early childhood teacher or educator can fill your cup, and the cups of families and children in more ways than one. More importantly, it’s the care you naturally provide to every child that helps to shape their lives in more ways than one.
