Miss Janelle is the enthusiastic and highly capable Lead Educator within the Toddler age group at Papilio Ingleburn. She has recently completed her Certificate 3 Traineeship at the centre and has quickly advanced and moved up into studying her Diploma of Education. We sat down with this dedicated educator to gain an understanding of how she’s gotten to where she is today!
When did you decide to make early childhood education your career?
I always wanted to work in Early years education but was unsure if it was the job for me. A few years ago, I decided to take the plunge switched career paths with the assistance of my team and the incredible support I've received from my Centre Manger - I've never looked back!
What goals did you set for yourself?
I set myself progression goals in terms of what leadership positions I wanted to achieve as well as how I wanted to advance through training and study. I knew when I began my career that I wanted to be more than an assistant and have worked hard to advance my role! I am currently a room leader of the toddler age group and love coming to work!
What challenges did you face?
Initially, I was not very confident with myself so building that up was quite a challenge for me. But with the support of my fellow educators who I've worked alongside for many years it's something I've been able to work through with my team.
What do you love the most about your job?
I love working with children, teaching them and guiding them to achieve their goals as well as meeting new families and building bonds with them and their children. I also love the team we have here at Papilio Early Learning Ingleburn – the staff here are like my second family.
What benefits do you see for your centre in being associated with Affinity Education Group?
Affinity offers progression which is something I wanted when I began my career in early education. I enjoy the professional development opportunities given to us which help to build up my skills and gain further experience within my career.
