Angela Beness has progressed her career from Centre Manager at Papilio Early Learning Camberwell to Quality Advisor for the state of Victoria.
To fill the Centre Manager role left at Papilio Camberwell, Darren Halim has been promoted after having a wealth of experience in the Assistant Centre Manager role at Papilio Ashburton.
We sat down to chat with Angela to learn more about her new role and how she got to where she is today.
What’s your experience in the Early Childhood Education Industry?
I have worked in the Early Childhood industry for 15 years and progressed in my career starting as a Lead Educator before moving into Vocational Education and Training and more recently in my role as a Centre Manager.
I hold my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and Cert IV in Training and Assessment. I am passionate about the importance of quality early education and I am particularly interested in advocating for children’s rights and leading quality interactions with children.
Could you give us a summary of the Quality Advisor role?
The Quality Advisor supports centres to meet and exceed the National Quality Standards through providing guidance and coaching to centre managers and educators. I am lucky enough to be able to travel around Victoria visiting our centres.
How does your role help you help support our early learning centres?
Here at Affinity Education Group, we have a strong focus on quality improvement. I support centres in the National Quality Framework by spending time with CM’s and spending time in the learning rooms with educators to give on the job coaching and support. This support is available all year round and we also provide support to centres in the assessment and rating process.
What are some highlights in working for Affinity Education?
My favourite thing about working for Affinity is the support we receive from head office, Quality Advisor’s and our Area and State Managers. They celebrate their people and have a really positive culture- we're all one big family! Everyone in the company has the same end goal and that is to inspire children through high quality care and education.
