Celebrating Carlye Taylor, an Affinity Education Group Shining Star

Exciting changes in our New South Wales management teams means positive outcomes for families and communities. With more than 12 years of experience as a Teacher and Educator, Carlye Taylor has enjoyed a diverse and rich profession in the sector; however, her next role is sure to challenge her while drawing upon her extensive experience.

We spoke with Carlye to learn more about her next exciting role with Affinity Education Group.

Carlye, can you tell us a little bit about your professional history and your new role?

I began my career by studying a Bachelor of Education (0-12 years). In 2008 I began working as a teacher. I ultimately left teaching due to the NAPLAN testing system – teaching to the test wasn’t for me. I have always wanted to encourage and support the child in their interests. In 2015 I began working in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector.

I am now also studying my Certificate III in Business Management through the Affinity Learning Academy.

Up until recently, I was the Centre Manager at Kids Academy Warnervale, a fantastic Early Childhood Education centre with a brilliant team of Educators. I received the opportunity to apply for an Area Manager role and now I am excited to oversee and support four Affinity Education Group owned centres in New South Wales.

What do you hope to achieve in this new role?

I am excited to combine the importance of early education with the delivery of successful business while also supporting our centre teams. I am also looking forward to furthering my career development and knowledge.

Have you experienced any challenges in your Early Childhood Education career? Who supported you through these challenges?

Being part of centre acquisitions was initially a little daunting, but, ultimately, it has been a rewarding experience for me.

Many different Affinity Education Group employees have supported me – from our Quality Advisors and their guidance with content at the service to Area Managers with their business knowledge. Different opportunities have seen me work with many different colleagues at Affinity Education and I have learnt something from each of them.

Tell us about your centres. What do you love most about them?

My area is a well-connected group of Centre Managers who support each other. There is no cliques or judgement. We all face similar issues and, because of that, those with the most experience are always ready (and happy) to support developing Centre Managers.

Why are you glad to be part of the Affinity Education Group community?

I enjoy being a part of Affinity Education Group as I have had the opportunity to take on different roles, such as Centre Manager roles at two very different services. Recently I have also supported our Accounts team with Family Accounts, which has also been a great experience.

Being a part of the Acquisitions team has also allowed me to meet new colleagues, see different services across Australia, and explore different areas of the business.

My knowledge of the systems has been paramount in my success in each of the roles I have undertaken. These systems allow us to provide a holistic approach with the flexibility to provide the care our communities want.
