Putting Child Safety First

It’s everyone’s job to protect children. This year Affinity Education Group is teaming up with Bravehearts to take the pledge to protect children.

This year Bravehearts are launching their 23rd annual White Balloon Day to coincide with the completion of National Child Protection Week, a NAPCAN initiative to put children first.

White Balloon Day falls on Friday September 6 this year and Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnston is calling on community members to show their commitment to child protection by signing the online pledge.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child and the same goes for protecting them,” Ms Johnston said.

At Lifelong Learning Centres we stand behind this belief and actively promote it through our Healthy Families Program which works to develop emotional confidence, social connectivity and appreciation within young children.

“The Early Years Learning Framework Belonging, Being and Becoming is at the heart of our Healthy Families events and activities. These are designed to strengthen the bonds between our childcare centre, the local community and families,” says Education Consultant Jesser Essex.

“Children at Lifelong Learning Centre not only learn how they benefit, but more importantly, how they can positively contribute to their family and local community.”

We actively stand behind White Balloon Day’s key message that it’s not solely the responsibility of parents and grandparents and that Teachers and Police Officers can only do so much. It’s important that when it comes to child safety, everyone plays their part.

To tie in with the theme that it’s everyone’s job to protect children, many of our centres will be hosting an occupational dress-up day. This will enable children to have a bit of fun with their wardrobe, while also opening up a teaching opportunity where our Educators can explain why child protection is important for everyone.

Make sure to keep an eye on social media for all the pictures and pledges from our children and Educators throughout the day.
